Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI)
Understanding

The Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) categorizes people into one of 16 personality types. The test can show if someone is more inclined to be introverted or extroverted, sensors or intuitive, thinkers or feelers and judgers and perceivers. MBTI tests are especially useful to get to know someone better initially where everyone has not warmed up to each other yet. Moreover, MBTI tests are a good conversation starter so that it would be easier to transition the team from the forming stage to the storming and norming stages. Moreover, MBTI tests can allow everyone to see what each other’s strengths lie and make allocation of work easier.
Application

In my team, we did the MBTI test during the tutorial and shared our results with each other. Upon doing the tests, we found out that team members shared similar results and this created a common topic that we could start conversing with. Through the test, I found that both Sofiya and Natalie shared the same personality type as me. I also found out that four out of five members of the team were introverted.
This gave us something for all of us to bond over. Moreover, my team members and I started finding celebrities and fictional characters who have the same personality type as us. This led to us finding out what were each other's interests outside of school. From this, we found out that we have common interests which broke the ice between us. Moreover, it allowed me to have a better understanding of the personalities of my team members.
Values and Challenges
A good thing about using MBTI Tests is to find common interests between team members. It is also a good conversation starter, especially for teams with members who are working together for the first time. This test also allows team members to have a better understanding of each other's personality

However, humans cannot be categorized into only 16 personalities. Using this test solely can lead to stereotyping of others and lead to initial misunderstandings if not careful. Hence, it is wise to only take the results of this test with a pinch of salt.
